![]() What about Hooktown Holidays? How are we doing? I knew you’d be wondering. Hi everyone! It’s Hooktown Rachel here again to fill you in on the latest. As you might have guessed, like so many individuals, businesses and charitable organizations, funds have decreased because of the pandemic. If I could bark that pest away, I’d give it all I’ve got! We’ve been lucky to have been able to make some contributions to a few organizations early this year, just about the time everything started to close down. It’s been kind of quiet since then. While a few donations continue to come in and we have had several junk cars donated, so far we are behind in funding for this year. We know that times are uncertain and that you have to make careful decisions about charitable giving right now. If you are able, we hope you will consider a tax deductible donation to Hooktown Holidays … whatever amount you feel comfortable with. I’ll be posting some ideas in the future on how you can help out even if you can’t make your own monetary donation right now. But, hold on to your hats! There is great news about our Major Fundraising event of the year. You guessed it! ![]() Hi everyone. It’s Hooktown Rachel again with an update I know many of you have been waiting for. Our CAC Facility Dog project started in March just about the time the pandemic also hit and soon after that everything began shutting down and we had to start isolating ourselves. We were very lucky that several Facebook Friends got the fund raiser going with generous donations on line. What a great start! Much of our fund raising efforts are done with personal contact where we can explain the cause and answer questions. Those one-on-one meeting opportunities were greatly reduced as it became necessary to distance ourselves from one another. But, many of our supporters came through with needed donations. Recently the Warren General Hospital made a generous donation bringing our current total to $5,400. That’s just about halfway to our goal of $11,000! Attached is a photo of Terry Pearson holding the check for $1,000 from the Hospital. This is truly welcome support from a leading organization in our community. It verifies that we are doing the right thing and we are doing it at the right time. Now we have a challenge to complete our commitment. Even though the official fund raiser is over, you can still donate to this important cause. Make your donations through Facebook by clicking on the “Donate Button” or from our website at https://www.hooktownholidays.org/hooktown-cac-facility-dog-project.html. Be certain to add a note that your donation is for the “Hooktown Holidays / CAC Project”. Donations can also be made at any Northwest Bank location, or through Hooktown Holidays, Inc. at P.O. Box 1751, Warren, PA 16365. Checks should be made payable to “Hooktown Holidays / CAC Project” and all donations should reference the same. Okay! Our goal is to fetch enough donations to bring our total up to at least $7,500 by September 1, 2020. With your help we can make this happen! A million thanks to all of you for your caring and support. ![]() Hey everyone! It’s Hooktown Rachel here. I’m the cofounder, along with my people Terry and Betty Jo, of Hooktown Holidays, Inc. Current events have sure turned things topsy turvy this year and people everywhere are trying hard to set everything right. In the meantime, I’ve noticed that a lot of you have been checking in on our FB page and I’m guessing you are looking for some updates as to what’s going on with Hooktown Holidays. So, while everyone else is busy, I’ve decided to jump in and lend a paw in order to bring you up to speed on what’s happening. First, though, let me tell you about my picture. “It’s the right thing to do. It’s the right time to do it”. You can see that I’m setting a good example of this by wearing my mask, just like all of you are doing. Because that is the right thing to do right now. But, masks are just a small part of “doing the right thing at the right time”. Our mission to provide nutritious food, warm clothing, and other necessities of life to children, families and other individuals in need in our community has not stopped or changed. In fact, the call is greater than ever to help our friends and neighbors in need who are hidden from view because of the overwhelming circumstances all people are facing. Hooktown Holidays is committed to doing the right thing at the right time to continue our mission. We are here to stay. Please join us as you check out the next several posts on our progress and future efforts. A million thanks for your interest and support! |
